Sergio Sciancalepore was born and raised in Hudson County, New Jersey — a landing place for many Italian & European immigrants who brought with them rich history & recipes. Growing up, Sergio was introduced to the delicatessen business by his father, who started the popular Michael’s Salumeria in Lyndhurst, NJ, which is still run by Sergio’s brother today.

In 1998, Sergio and his wife, Allyson, moved to Morris County and decided to purchase George’s Deli in the heart of Denville, NJ. In 1999, Sergio & Co. was born.

Over the last 25+ years, Sergio & Co. has opened its doors to thousands of customers and solidified its legacy in downtown Denville. It has become more than an Italian deli. It has become a direct reflection of the values that Sergio holds for himself, his team, and has projected into the community. Together, Sergio and Allyson have three children who have all spent time behind the counter welcoming customers.

In 2012, Sergio & Co. expanded to include a catering kitchen & offices down the street at 13 Church St. (behind the Walgreens/Starbucks).

In 2018, Sergio and his longtime friend Tommy Pollio created The Pasta Shop (13 First Ave), an intimate local restaurant focused on serving homemade pastas & creative dishes.
